Ode to My Shoes

If I could have one wish,
It would be to repair my shoes.
Because they help to warm my feet,
And prevent them from getting bruised.
I've had you two for a while now,
Ever since I could remember.
Alright fine I've had you since '08,
But that doesn't mean you don't matter.
You've been all around the world,
And even across the country.
I can't think of any other pair,
That I'd like to have for another century.
You've been covered in dirt and ink,
And have even fallen in the dirtiest puddle.
But you stayed strong till the end,
And put up the greatest struggle.
There are so many memories,
Way too many to count.
I think the worst of all,
Was getting you out of Monty's mouth.
But the best of them all,
Was probably the trip to Greece.
It was during the Summer,
Which was hot to say the least.
We went to Mykonos and Crete,
We trailed through the Santorini streets.
We sailed across the Mediterranean Sea,
I can't think of a better place to be.
Your soul is stronger than most,
Putting up with my humongous feet.
You have always put up a great fight,
And you've never given into defeat.
But now I must say goodbye,
For you have done your life's work.
You were chosen to be worn,
On the feet of the mighty Stersk.
Now I finally lay you to rest,
In the shoe box you came in.
I don't want to let you go,
But the time has come to say Fin.
Even when you had that rip,
At the toe of my right shoe.
I still wore you two every day,
And everyone thought I went cuckoo.
I know no one thinks of their shoes,
Especially the way that I do.
But that is why you're special to me,
Because there is no better pair than you two.
Goodbye my favorite feet warmers,
This is our last and final dance.
Maybe one day I'll see you in heaven,
And we can do the Moonwalk for one last chance.
But until then my feet will feel lonely,
With nothing to comfort or warm them.
Sure there are plenty of other shoes out there,
But all I want now is to get you all over again.
If I could make a tombstone,
To commemorate you two.
It would read, "Here lies the better half of Dan's feet,"
"His greatest pair of shoes."
Thank you for the awesome ride,
It was the greatest I'll ever live.
You gave more than any other,
What another shoe could give.
